84 pounds lost, day 120.
So last Saturday I was taking a class and ended up having two people tell me that I should probably look at getting some different shoes. I know, right? I was thinking the same thing you were. My shoes were perfect {{laughing}}….. I guess I am a bit out of touch when it comes to proper footwear. My trainer also ended up making a recommendation for shoes. Okay – that’s three. I call these….. signs. In their defense, I can’t wear the shoes I had chosen because my legs wear down the backsides unevenly. I really did need some flat shoes with more stability.
So I got the names; I was looking for Nanos or Metcons and I was on my way to the Eagan Outlets. I decided I was going to get one of each so I could figure out long term what I liked best.
Reebok store 1. I find out that all the Nanos have been sent to Albertville because the store is closing. I didn’t want to drive all the way out to Albertville *rolling eyes*. MOAN. Okay…. Metcons it is.
Nike store 1. This might sound surprising, but I’ve never been in a Nike store in my life. Honestly… lol, I had no idea. There must have been thousands of shoes. How can anyone not get overwhelmed in a place like this? There was this kind of trainer, this kind of running shoe, Air, Flex, Fly – WTF. Holy shit, a person could get lost. Metcons – yea, there wasn’t any; not a single pair! I left the outlets without the shoes I was looking for, but I ended up getting this other kind of training shoe. I was proud of myself because they were flat (which was the recommendation) and they said “training” on the inside. I had done well. *beaming smile on face*
Long story short – yep, no they were not going to work *cross look on face*. I called every shoe store I could think to look for both of these shoes and found nothing. It was almost like the Universe was determined to have me drive from Eagan to Albertville in the middle of rush hour. Destiny.
I finally arrive in Albertville. Nike store 2. I happily announced to the girl that greeted me I was there to buy some Metcons!! Wait for it………No Metcon’s. MOAN……. I know… it was like everybody was bum rushing these shoes. I have yet to try a pair on, but they must be some good shoes because they were out of stock everywhere. The Nano was my last hope.
Reebok store 2. My first words to the clerk were, “Tell me you have these shoes.” Yes! They had some. My excitement was short lived because as I get to the shelf, I realized my selection was limited. Lime green and orange or hot pink. You’ve gotta be kidding me? The disappointment went further when I realized these are quite possibly some ugly shoes. I tried them on, and yep, they were flat alright. Ehhh. Very flat. I probably looked like an awkward penguin walking around in these because I couldn’t say there were very comfortable either. Maybe I had to break them in? I still had one problem though – lime and orange or hot pink. I wasn’t going to do it. The clerk mentioned that men’s had different colors. Men’s shoes? Say what?? He brings over a straight black pair that wasn’t as awful as the other two, but without any other option I downsized a couple sizes and opted for straight black. *sour look on face*. Crocs look hideous, but at least they have a little cushion. I got the Nanos – the Mork from Ork shoes. Nanoo Nanoo *rocking the hand gesture*
I said I was a bit out of touch when it comes to footwear but who knows, they might surprise me. Don’t disappoint me Reebok.
Lovingly, Bean.
