I had to run an errand the other morning and I was walking to my car when I glanced over at my porch. There was a long waving ribbon hanging from one of the flower baskets I have on my front porch. I thought it was odd so I walked over to get a closer look at it.
The neighbors had a graduation party the weekend prior. This looked like party ribbon; it had a star crown and several long trailing ribbons hanging down from it. It was the kind a small child might wear on their head.
I thought it was odd. It was just hanging there and I was baffled at how it could gotten there. I thought at first the wind must have done it. That couldn’t be it…………it was actually weaved into the flowers.
I got back home, grabbed the scissors and walked back over to the basket. I snipped off the ribbon. I laughed to myself; how funny. I looked up into the plant and noticed something even more odd. A Robin had actually started building a nest right there at eye level. What an odd place to make a home?
((laugh)). I’m sure many people say the same thing about me. How did I end up in Minnesota? It seemed so random. For some people maybe, but for me it was very deliberate. I will get to that later in the blog but for this morning, I thought I would share a thought.
I thought about that Robin making this beautiful little nest in the middle of something I might say was random. I realized “home” was not a place. It’s a mere feeling. Home is wherever you find yourself.
